CHS Thespians represented Calhoun with excellence at the 2016 Georgia Thespian Conference.

Our conference began with presenting the Georgia Thespians Administrator of the Year to Dr. Michele Taylor.  We were then happy to watch the Conference Opening Number where three of our students participated: Melia Carter, Katherine McKinney, and Sydney Hamann.  Our production of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying played twice on Friday morning to huge audiences in the Bill Heard Theatre with standing ovations.

All four of our Individual Events received Superior Ratings - they were Chandler Padgett, solo; Caleb Hayes and Lucy Leggett, duet; Kade Wright and Ava Galyean, duet, and Abby Wright, Anna Grace Bingham, Aubrey Marbutt, Ava Galyean, Bryson Parker, Caleb Hayes, Chandler Padgett, Emily McReynolds, Kade Wright, Katherine McKinney, Laura Garza, Lucy Leggett, Meg Seneski, Melia Carter and Sydney Hamann for the Large Group number.  Our large group number was selected for the final showcase and actually closed the entire conference - a tremendous honor out of almost 400 presentations from schools all across the state.

Finally, senior Katherine McKinney was a awarded a scholarship for $2,000.  Several CHS students had call-back auditions for colleges and three CHS students were selected for the 2017 All-State Musical.  They are Abby Wright, Kade Wright and Sarah Green.  Freshman Jahlaynia Winters, while not selected, was the only Freshman to make it past the call-back round.

I am very proud of the work of all the students and blessed to have a terrific team of teachers and parents who are working to help make Calhoun High School a state leader in arts education.
