CCS Communicator - March 14, 2016

Your AAA Region Champion Literary Team competed at State with a State Championship in International Extemporaneous Speaking from Lauryn Falkenstein!  The complete story will be posted to the website shortly.

Calhoun Elementary and Calhoun Middle participated in the Odyssey of the Mind regional tournament this weekend. All three CES teams will be advancing to the state competition which will be held on April 9 in Columbus GA. We Are Calhoun!

Region 6AAA Literary 2016 - Calhoun High School - REGION CHAMPIONS!
Calhoun High School competed in the GHSA 6AAA Literary Competition in on Friday, March 4th at Belmont Baptist Church in Calhoun, GA. We are extremely proud of our overall team win and are excited to take out 4 1st place events to the GHSA State Literary competition on Saturday, March 12th in Warner Robins, GA.
We would like to thank our Literary coaches, student participants, administration, and everyone who supported our literary team this year. The following students represented CHS -

Latest Headlines


David Gomez attended All State Orchestra in Athens, Georgia on March 3-5. It is an honor to be chosen for All State, as it represents the top 2-3 percent of high school players in the state.  David is in 11th grade at Calhoun High School, and he studies violin with Paula Pasqua at the Creative Arts Guild of Dalton. 


Calhoun High School scored another first place this weekend as junior Hannah Ku was named top speaker at the Georgia Varsity Debate competition. Ku and her partner, Chaney Bearden, finished as semi-finalists in the competition, which was held at Northview High School in Atlanta. Bearden, a sophomore, also received an individual speaker award. 

The debate team's next competition will be in two weeks, when Randall Forester and Cole Perez will represent Calhoun at the National Freshman Debate Tournament, which is held at Woodward High School in Atlanta. Sophomores Chaney Bearden and Lauryn Falkenstein will then travel to the National Debate Coach's Association National tournament in April, in Orlando.  

Calhoun City Schools Community Education will be offering a Majorette Clinic on March 19th for students in Pre-K through 8th grade. This clinic will be conducted by the CHS Majorettes at the CHS Gym. The cost is $25.00 per student. Deadline to
